Our Christmas Present - Load Shedding :-(

Submitted by lashmar on Mon, 12/03/2018 - 02:45

It has been quite a while now since our country (SA) experienced load shedding three years ago, well our power parastatal Eskom, our power monopolist has announced load shedding as they are unable to produce enough energy to accommodate the countries needs.

I am not going to go into the politics of our country but it's sad that our once stable energy service provider has degraded to a limping company due to years of corruption and maladministration to enforce daily load shedding.

FTTH Fibre has arrived, finally!

Submitted by lashmar on Wed, 10/03/2018 - 07:54

It is a miracle to see a van with workers pull up our street and start ripping the paving away. On my request what was happening with the suspicion this could be the long-awaited fibre coming to our area, it proved true. This week they have started laying fibre cables.

I walked into the studio and jumped for joy as this means that the five-year wait has finally come to an end!

New Times...

It is time now to move our studio to a more professional environment. You might have noticed in the past couple of days our transmissions have been changing, this is because of software updates and moving the equipment to a more secure area.

This is need as we have had some advertisers interested to sponsor some show which has brought on high expectations and joy to the crew.

As for now, we are using our emergency broadcasting server which is just playing music non-stop but this is going to change soon.

Off Air!

Submitted by lashmar on Thu, 06/07/2018 - 12:08

There comes a time that we need to update our systems which cannot be done on the fly. Meaning that we need to stop broadcasting to get software and hardware updated.

I do apologise, but this means a better value of music to come! This, unfortunately, will take a couple of hours as our technicians are hard at work with the clock running.

We will be back and thank you for understanding!

Power Outage!

Submitted by lashmar on Thu, 01/18/2018 - 03:02

2018 is promising to be a year of wonders, but today the reality hit us when we at 9am was hit with a power outage.

Nothing we can do apart from investing in expensive UPS equipment. Lucky the power was restored twenty minutes later and all is forgotten.

Happy listening to our non-stop music radio!

The year of hope has arrived. We trying to figure out what happened to the last year with all its memories. The silly days have come and now gone.

We have been on the air now almost for four years, what has changed I ask myself, nothing much but the quality of the station has. The music is cleaner, better and still adding to the repertoire.

This year going to concentrate on the South African music scene which did produce many stars to become world-renowned stars.

Competition

Submitted by lashmar on Fri, 11/17/2017 - 12:35

At times when I am not able to listen to 70vibe-fm, oh yes I am one of the few station managers that do listen to their stations, I listen to the competition station on the air.

In my thoughts, I think they are doing a good job, but then a half hour passes and I feel compelled to change the station because I have heard it all before. I ask myself why must this station always play the same songs over and over again as if they don't have anything else.

The 70s Vibe..a come-back?

When we turn on the radio's we tend to hear more of the seventies and eighties music being repeated on a daily basis.

This was the time when music was being shaped by what it is today. Listening to modern music I notice that the seventies has its influence, but what becomes rather irritating is that they all seem to play the same songs over and over again. These programming directors have no heart when it comes to selection.
